Team Transport & Logistics supported the fundraiser in honour of those we’ve lost to Cancer and fighting for a better future.

It’s heartwarming to share the news of our successful fundraiser for Lisa’s Lunches in support of our wonderful employee Donna Masteika and all families facing cancer treatments.

Jacqui Martin established Lisa’s Lunches in 2018 as a tribute to her dear friend Lisa Heuston. Lisa passed away due to cancer in 2017 while she was being treated at the Ipswich Hospital. Lisa’s Lunches, named in memory of Lisa Heuston, was created to continue the work of Lisa, who used to make lunches for teachers to hand out to students who went to school without food. When Lisa was diagnosed with cancer, her friends rallied around her and her family by preparing packed lunches for Lisa’s children so that they had one less burden to worry about. After Lisa’s passing, the Lisa’s Lunches movement continued to grow, and since then, they have donated over 35,000 lunches to support Ipswich families affected by cancer. They assist local families and individuals dealing with cancer by providing school lunch packs, palliative care boxes, and other forms of practical support.

Donna’s bravery and determination, despite her ongoing struggle with cancer, are a source of inspiration for everyone involved. The story of Lisa’s Lunches, which began with a desire to help a friend in need, has grown into a powerful movement that offers practical assistance and valuable resources to many families impacted by cancer in Ipswich and the surrounding regions. Donna felt compelled to help and start the fundraiser whilst going through cancer treatment herself, she too also inspired by the movement.

The success of the event was evident with more than 100 people contributing to the cause of solidarity and willingness to give back. This demonstrates the strength and necessity of community bonds and the impact they can make in bringing about a positive change. The significant amount of $11,209 raised will undoubtedly go a long way in supporting Lisa’s Lunches’ mission and easing the burdens for families going through challenging times.

“It is crucial to maintain and nurture this universal friendship by demonstrating compassion towards those who are experiencing uncertainty. The fundraiser’s generosity and support are evidence of the positive impact that can be accomplished when a community unites for a common purpose.” General Manager, Kylie Wilkinson of Team Transport & Logistics said.
Congratulations to all involved in making this event a success. Your efforts will bring comfort to those in need, reflecting the spirit of unity and kindness in the community.
